Commercial Trailer Repair in Charleston, SC

Mobile trailer diagnostics and repair throughout Charleston — lighting, brakes, ABS, landing gear, wiring, and DOT compliance for commercial trailers of all types.

Trailers get neglected — until inspection

Trailers accumulate deferred maintenance faster than tractors because they don't have a dashboard with warning lights. By the time a trailer light is out or a brake is dragging, it's often already a violation waiting to happen at a scale house. Lowcountry Diagnostics provides mobile trailer service throughout the Charleston area — lighting, brakes, wiring, and DOT compliance without requiring a trailer shop appointment.

Dry van, flatbed, refrigerated, and specialty trailers

We service commercial trailers in operation throughout the Charleston area including 48- and 53-foot dry van trailers, flatbed and step-deck trailers, refrigerated trailers (reefers), lowboy trailers, dump trailers, and specialty vocational trailers. Single-axle and tandem-axle configurations are both within our scope.

Trailer service is often deferred because trailers don't follow a truck to the dealership or shop. Mobile service that comes to the trailer's location — at the yard, the dock, or the drop lot — removes that friction and makes it practical to keep trailers maintained and compliant.

What trailer service includes

Trailer Lighting

All trailer lighting inspected and repaired — tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, clearance lamps, marker lamps, and reflectors. Trailer lighting violations are among the most common DOT out-of-service conditions and one of the easiest to prevent with regular inspection.

Trailer Brakes

Trailer brake adjustment, lining condition, drum inspection, and brake chamber service. Trailer brakes are frequently out of adjustment because they don't have the same service attention as tractor brakes — and they're checked at every roadside inspection.

Trailer ABS

Trailer ABS fault lamp diagnosis, wheel speed sensor faults, modulator valve issues, and ABS ECU testing. A lit ABS lamp on a trailer manufactured after March 1, 1998 is a DOT violation that's visible at the rear before the inspector even walks around the unit.

Electrical & Wiring

7-pin connector issues, pigtail damage, wiring harness shorts and opens, and junction box faults. Trailer wiring faults cause intermittent or complete lighting failures and ABS communication issues that are easy to trace with proper test equipment.

Landing Gear

Landing gear crank operation, leg condition, foot pad inspection, and mounting hardware. Damaged or inoperable landing gear is a safety hazard and a violation — particularly on trailers that are dropped and picked up frequently.

DOT Trailer Inspection

Annual DOT inspection for commercial trailers performed on-site by a certified inspector. Includes documentation of all safety systems, pass/fail determination, and the required inspection report that must be kept with the trailer.

Mobile trailer service in Charleston

Lowcountry Diagnostics provides mobile trailer repair and inspection throughout Charleston, North Charleston, Goose Creek, Summerville, and the surrounding area. We come to the trailer's location — at your yard, at a drop lot, or at a shipper or receiver — and handle lighting, brake, and electrical issues on-site.

For fleets running multiple trailers, we include trailer inspection in our fleet preventive maintenance programs. Every trailer service visit is documented with a written inspection report that supports DOT maintenance record requirements and provides a clear record of each trailer's condition and service history.

Findings, options, and next steps you can act on

You should not have to guess what was checked, what failed, or what happens next. We explain the diagnostic findings, the likely cause, the recommended repair direction, and any follow-up items that should be watched or scheduled later.
